Dear friends

The journey of Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering (SNGCE) as an educational institution is nothing short of remarkable, with its legacy deeply rooted in the message of Sree Narayana Guru to gain ‘strength through unity and enlightenment through education’. The institution is a testament to our commitment to provide quality professional education to the students, especially from the rural economically and socially less privileged sections of the society, at affordable cost and enable them to successfully face the challenges and responsibilities of today’s fast changing world. The vision and mission of the college have been revised recently to reflect this and to underscore the conviction that education is not only to excel in academic pursuits but also to imbibe strong moral values, empathy for others, self-confidence and relevant personality traits thereby imparting the ability to adapt and succeed in life.

SNGCE had always been at the forefront among similar institutions in providing a vibrant intellectually stimulating environment. We envision our campus reflecting the ethos of innovation and entrepreneurship. We focus not only on placement of our students in large corporates but also on micro-issues that impact the society. We are inspired by the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru and work towards the welfare of all, in particular, the underprivileged. Our faculty and students are trained and encouraged to be the agents of change within the system by being part of it and not exclusive to the system itself. We do pay attention to the developmental and societal issues around us at the local or even community level, invest time and resources to work on them and come up with feasible solutions.

Our college is just two decades old. Yet we were able to make our presence felt through our alumni spread across the globe. We will be celebrating our Silver Jubilee in 2027 with a wide variety of academic, scientific, technological and societal programs. In fact the activities under the umbrella ‘Vision 2027’ are already underway. We have established an independent arm named ‘Sree Narayana Gurukulam Centre for Advanced Studies and Training (SNGCAST)’ to identify the personal and professional needs of our students and provide necessary solutions using internal and external resources. We are entering into more industry-academia collaborations whereby the students will be employment-ready in specific industries in specific disciplines.

Our motto is that every SNGCEan should be capable of fostering sustained and seamless quest to identify solutions to real life problems, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life of the people and helping the nation to be átma-nirbhar’ (self-reliant). With this objective, we are introducing more undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in frontier areas of Engineering, Technology and Management. These include new courses; B Tech in AI & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Electronics (VLSI Design & Technology), M Tech in Ocean Technology, MBA in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, integrated MBA and MCA with exit options, together with increase in the number of seats for B Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and Naval Architecture & Ship Building Engineering (NASB). The prospective supply of experts in all these disciplines is expected to be inadequate in the near to mid-term future, leading to huge employment potential for those duly qualified. The current initiatives, innovations and the success in multiple accreditation efforts will go a long way in accomplishing the vision and mission of the SNGCE.

To the students: While pursuing your academic and professional pursuits, never be shy of facing challenges head-on and enjoying the victories (or even occasional failures) over them. Everybody has a dream on what, when and where one should be in life. Education is the key vehicle to reach the destination. To quote Steve Jobs, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to like what you do”

To the newcomers: Never hesitate to enjoy the beautiful serene SNGCE campus life. Maintain good sense of humour, take good care of body and mind, learn to laugh at yourself and be constantly pushing your limits while setting goals or pursuing the purpose. The management, faculty and the entire staff will be there to provide all necessary support to ensure your success. Make the best use of your SNGCE days.

I welcome all the newcomers to this great centre of learning. Together let us hold the torch of SNGCE high as we look into the future.

 Best regards,

Dr. E P Yesodharan
